Overview
Many of you have provided great feedback
and suggestions on how to improve Turbo Tourney. We always listen
to these ideas when preparing new versions of Turbo Tourney. The
result is the best version of Turbo Tourney to date. Here is the
main Turbo Tourney grid:
Many new features will continue to make managing
your office pool fun and easy. Some of
the new features include:
- In an effort to provide an ENHANCED EXPERIENCE
each and every year, we've made a number of infrastructure changes that will allow us to provide better
support, a better customer experience and a longer life to the Turbo Tourney product. Some examples include:
* removed alot of old code and features that were tremendously outdated (eg. Tip of the Day, playing sounds, etc.)
* upgraded most of the 3rd party controls used by the program to latest versions
* removed the old Windows Help and replaced it with the more standard HTML Help
* correctly associating program files with appropriate directories (eg. My Documents, Application Data, etc.) to follow Windows guidelines
* implemented a brand new program installer that uses the latest Windows Installer technology
- An IMPROVED INTERNET ADD-ON experience by
acquiring additional server hardware, upgrading existing server hardware and software as well as using a 2nd hosting environment
at a different location than the current server hardware for redundancy. As part of that effort, we have completely disconnected the Internet Add-on
processing from the normal TurboTourney.com usage and it's now running on it's own dedicated hardware. This should eliminate the bottlenecks on the
TurboTourney.com site during busy Internet Add-on times. With the Internet Add-on this year, you will also be able to cancel an existing queued Zip and
submit a new one without having to wait for the previous one to finish. Along with the new dedicated hardware, this will also help improve the Internet Add-in
performance.
- We have STREAMLINED THE DEPLOY VIA WEB processing by
completely re-writing the server logic that processes the online entries to be much more efficient and provide for some additional
features that we could not provide before. As an example, in we will now have the ability to
store all of your entries even after you reset your entry file in case you need
to re-download them again. So, no more need to mess with those Reset Entry file
emails. We have also made the process simpler by integrating the entries with your
TurboTourney.com account so there is no longer a need to request and keep track
of separate passwords for all those entries. You can now also view a list of all the new players
that have been imported.
- New option for ENHANCED CSS STYLE settings. You can now choose to
not only embed the CSS styling in the web pages but also to use an external CSS file making the resulting HTML pages smaller. There
are also new options to include your own custom CSS file, link to a custom CSS file or have no CSS styling at all.
- IMPROVED PLAYER SUMMARY report now shows in color which
teams were correctly picked or incorrectly picked. See an example here.
- New option for SCHEDULE ORGANIZER can be set to choose which days of
the week the scheduler should run.
- New option for FTP BYPASSING REPORTS so that you can maintain all the related links
between pages without have to upload all the reports. This is useful, for example, if you want to keep links to the player picks but
don't want to keep uploading all the player picks every time.
- New option for SQL SERVER 2005 database storage in addition to the
previously supported databases.
