The 68 Team Bracket

Overview
For those of you who might not be aware, the NCAA has expanded the tournament field from 65 teams (with 1 play-in game) to 68 teams (with, essentially, 4 play-in games to be called the "First Four"). The main difference is that the winner of these games will not necessarily end up as a 16 Seed. It could be that the winner of the game ends up entering the bracket as a 12 Seed, or a 10 seed. The region and the bracket line each game will play for won't be announced until the selection show. I found a good example of this here:

After talking with a number of people and hearing comments from many of the pool managers, the way these 4 games will be handled will be very similar to how the current play-in game will be handled. The main reason for this is that none of the pool managers I heard from wanted to ask their players to pick the winners of these 4 games both from a lack of interest standpoint and from the standpoint of requriing entries to be completed by Tuesday after the pairings. So, the 64/65 team logic currently in place will be removed but the the two teams playing for the spot in the bracket will show up similar to how the 64/65 teams showed up. So, if we use the sample bracket above and put in some fake teams it would look something like this:

Then after the games are played, we will update the Pairings to reflect the team that won. So, it will work in essence the same way as the current play-in just with 3 additional games and the winners of those games could end up anywhere in the bracket.

Round Names
To help avoid confusion for your players, by default we will continue to name the rounds the same names as they have been in the past, however, if you want to change your round names you can easily do so by selecting the Tournament menu, then Options and click on the Matchups tab and here you can enter whatever round names you would like displayed on the pick sheet.
